• PROJECT: FLOW FROM GLOBE HILL MINE TO SCHIST ISLAND MINE - MOD DATE: 11/19/2008
AUTHOR: Adrian Brown, P.E. PAGE: 4 OF 4
i As the predominant continuous structures in the diatreme are vertical, striking approximately
northwest/southeast, horizontal hydraulic conducitvity is expected to be less than the vertical
hydraulic conductivity.
8 For the maximal hydraulic conductivity of the diatremal rock of 100 ft/yr (10-5 cm/sec) used in
this analysis, this anisotropy requires vertical hydraulic conductivity of 0.62 ft/yr (6x10 cm/sec).
The vertical hydraulic conductivity must be least this high to allow the observed infiltration of
-6" per year to flow vertically through the diatreme to create the Carlton Tunnel flow.
9 Accordingly, groundwater flow from the Globe Hill Mine to the Schist Island Mine will not occur.
CERTIFICATION
The engineering services addressed in this evaluation were performed by Adrian Brown, P.E. The work
is based on my knowledge, information, and belief, and has been performed in accordance with applicable
standards of practice. This certification is not a guaranty or warranty, expressed or implied.
•
E
Adrian Brown Consultants, Inc., 130 West Fourth Avenue, Denver, Colorado 303-698-9080
