Seneca II-W C-1982-057
Pg 2/2 10 December 2008 <3s7
Backfilling and Grading: The backfilled North Pit area was viewed from Road G. The area was
snow covered but appeared to be well vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. No major
erosional problems were noted in this area.
-The backfilled areas above (east of) Pond 006 appeared to be well vegetated and stable at the time
of the inspection. These areas were observed from Road A. No major erosional problems were noted
in this area.
-The Wolf Creek/Sage Creek Pit area was observed from Road J. This area was covered with snow
but appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. No major erosional problems were noted in
the backfilled areas at the time of the inspection.
Support Facilities: The Seneca II-W facilities area was stable and well maintained at the time of the
inspection. SCC is still using these facilities and the pad around the shop/warehouse building has the
mine's remaining equipment for reclamation and maintenance. This equipment includes 3-637E
scrapers, a 4385 backhoe, a 330 excavator, an approximately 10CY highway dump truck, a D61-1
dozer, a 10,000 gallon water wagon, an 815 compactor, a 16G grader and 3 miscellaneous trucks.
Additionally, SCC still has their 12CY dragline just up Road A from the facilities area. In addition to the
equipment, SCC still maintains a fueling station at the site.
Fish and Wildlife: There were a good deal of game tracks along the roads and by the ponds at the
Seneca II-W Mine but no wildlife was observed at the time of the inspection.
Slides and Damage: There is a slide on the north slope by Ponds 016 and 016A that needs to be
repaired. According to Dennis Jones, SCC is still investigating the slide to best determine how to
repair the slide area. The mine has installed piezometers to aid in the study.
-As noted in "Hydrologic Balance" above, there is a small slide on the south inslope area of Pond 016.
Please see above for more details.
Reclamation Success: The majority of the mine has been reclaimed (with the exception of the
facilities area, the roads and the ponds). Overall the areas that we were able to see on this inspection
looked like they were doing well.
This concludes the 10 December 2008 inspection report for the Seneca II-W Mine.
