Cattany Division Director Natural Resource Trustee The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby. issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 11, 2007, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Munger Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. CAM Mining LLC proposes to continue Underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 18 miles North of Loma, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: Mine site: Portions of Sections 27, 28, and 29, T7S, R102W, 6th P.M., all in Garfield County. Rail Loadout: Portions of Section 34, T2N, R3W, Ute PM, in Mesa County. Portions of Section 3, TIN, R3W, Ute PM, in Mesa County. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Howard Canyon & Garvey Canyon (Mine Area) and Mack (Loadout Area). This application would allow for renewal of a valid existing permit for the Munger Canyon Mine and Loma Loadout, Coal Mining and Reclamation Permit No. C-1981-020. The above-referenced permit renewal application would not incorporate additional lands into the permit area or otherwise alter previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures. In accordance with the May 1991 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our agencies, we must have your concurrence in order to approve this proposal. We are required to make a finding that "the proposed operations will not adversely affect any publicly owned park or place listed on or those places eligible for listing, as determined by the SHPO, on the National Register of Historic Places, unless approved jointly by the Board and the Federal, State, or local agency with jurisdiction over the park or place."
