III. COMMENTS- COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made

This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). Lands remaining permitted under the approved
permit include the 1.2 acres at the reclaimed NW-1 ventilation shaft and six water monitoring
sites that the operator plans to transfer by revision in the near future to the New Elk Mine
permit, #C-1981-012. Ground conditions were snow-covered due to a major winter storm
that hit the area overnight but was winding down during the inspection.
Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign is posted on the fence immediately east of the permit area. The
sign correctly identifies the permittee, address, permit number, and contact information for
both the permittee and the Division, as required by Rules 4.02 and 4.30. The reclaimed site
was found snow-covered with no other observations possible due to the conditions.
