(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: m-9nnn- 099
INSPECTION DATE: 11)/2'A/C)8 INSPECTOR' S INITIALS: KAR
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety's 4-year
monitoring program. Present at the inspection was Kate Pickford, DRMS, and Butch Corsentino, nearby
landowner. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear, calm and approximately 45 degrees.
2. The site is accessed off of Hwy 10, east of the City of Walsenburg, and is located approximately t/< mile.
off the road to the north on top of a hill. There is a locked gate at the Hwy 10 entrance. No sign is
-- posted at the site entrance (see page-3). The site consists of an area where excavation has occurred
into the sides of two hills. The excavated slopes have not been graded for final reclamation. Some
stockpiles of material are located at the site. Spotty vegetation is present on the stockpiles and on the
excavated slopes.
3. The most recent annual report submitted for the site in 2007 indicated that the city did not intend to
conduct mining or reclamation activity at the site for the upcoming year. The 2008 annual report was
not submitted to the Division, but it appears that no activities have been conducted at the site during
this year either. If the city intends to use the site for further gravel resources, but does not intend to
conduct any mining within the next year, it should file for a temporary cessation of the permit. The
allowable period for temporary cessation is five years, without Board approval. If the city does not
intend to use the site for additional gravel resources, it should either reclaim the site or transfer the
permit to another entity that intends to conduct mining on the site (see page 3).
Cc: ?
