III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br /> during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br /> and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This processing and loadout site has been <br /> inactive since June 2001 after the closure of the Lorencito Mine (#C-96-084). Ground <br /> conditions on the afternoon of December 9th were dry. However, conditions of December <br /> 101" were markedly different following an overnight major winter snowstorm. <br /> Roads <br /> The mine site was snow-covered following an overnight snowstorm that dumped about 12 <br /> inches of heavy snow. Roads were snow-covered and no activity was noted. <br /> kL <br /> Hydrologic Balance <br /> Drilling of the mine dewatering holes was observed briefly on December 9". The rig uses air <br /> to expel cuttings from the hole. Cuttings appeared bright white indicating possibly drilling <br /> through a grouted section of the hole. <br /> 3 <br />
