F6rt Collins
December 11, 2008
Michael Cunningham
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman, RM 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Timberline Pit, M-1977-184
Dear Mr. Cunningham:
Natural Resources
215 N. Mason
PO Box 580
Fort Collins, CO 80522
970.221-6600
970.224-6177-fax
fcgov.com
This letter is in response to the Inspection Report dated 11/12/08 conducted at Timberline Pit.
Two corrective actions were identified in the report. This letter summarizes the City of Fort
Collins corrective actions.
The Permit sign was not posted at the entrance to the mine site per Rule 3.1.12 (1). Corrective
action was to place a sign visible from the access road by December 12, 2008. A photograph
was considered proof of compliance. Enclosed is a photograph of the sign placed at the parking
area along Timberline Road.
Russian Olive trees were observed along the perimeter of ponds found on site. The corrective
action identified was to remove all trees prior to December 31, 2008. The City of Fort Collins
requests to extend the deadline for Russian Olive removal to April 30, 2009. The reason for this
request is based on the workload of existing staff and the fact that seasonal staff used to remove
Russian Olive trees are not available until late winter (February 2009).
Thank you for your consideration of our request for an extension to remove Russian Olive trees.
If you need any additional information, please contact me at (970) 416-2814.
Sincerely,
Daylan Figgs
Fort Collins Natural Areas
