Requirement

Regulation Require-
ment
complied
with
(yes / no)

Comment
invasion at well GF-5 in No Name Gulch. Seepage of coal
spoil leachate from near the land surface down into the P
White appears to have occurred at well P-8 in East Pyeatt
Gulch, but the areal extent of this seepage is expected to be
significantly less than the areal extent of a possible plume
expected in Flume Gulch where the pit area that creates
seepage will be several times larger.
Flume Gulch alluvium -Like the P White, the Flume
Gulch alluvium could be invaded by coal spoil leachate
seeping down from the ground surface downslope from
springs that are expected to form in the gulch. The Coy well
is the ground water point of compliance for the Flume Gulch
alluvium, as explained on page 4-242 of the permit
application. Data from the Coy well in 2007 indicate
Trapper is in compliance with the Basic Standards for
Ground Water for classification of Agricultural Use Quality
for the Flume Gulch alluvium in a Specified Area comprised
of the area underlain by saturated alluvium.
Other Stratigraphic Units - Points of compliance for other
stratigraphic units elsewhere on the mine are not warranted
because mining does not have the potential to negatively
impact ground water quality in those areas.
Each pit disrupts the potentiometric surface of confined
aquifers. After reclamation, monitoring data show full
S. Restoration of recovery of the potentiometric surface outside of backfilled
ground water CDRMS pits and partial recovery of potentiometric surface inside
recharge to regulation yes backfilled pits. Spoil springs may reduce ground water
approximate 4.05.11(3) recharge by diverting ground water flow to surface flow,
premining rate but Trapper's expected total aggregate spoil spring
discharge of less than 1 cfs will be too small to reduce
recharge below the approximate remining rate.
Page 4
