(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2005-075
INSPECTION DATE: 1 1 /7/2008
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety. The Glen Pit is a 112c permitted site located 2 miles east of Rifle, Colorado on Highway 6 &
24. Justin Aubert along with two pit supervisors of United Companies and Alex Schatz of Banks and Gesso all
accompanied the inspector during the inspection
The mine identification sign and the affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located on the main entrance located east of the Dick Casey Concrete Pit. The permit boundaries are
comprised of fence lines and posts that are easily identifiable.
The mine is currently active with various pieces of equipment operating during the inspection. It appeared that the
majority of the construction material resource has been mined at the time of the inspection. The current mining and
material appeared to be in phases four and five. A loader was observed working processed material stockpiles on
the pit floor and loading haul trucks.
Large overburden stockpiles were observed along the northeastern permit boundary. It is stated in the mining plan
that the overburden is to be used as fill material for the high walls created by mining and for construction of the
lined augmentation pond. The mine plan also states that while one phase is being mined the previous phase will be
reclaimed. Phased reclamation was not observed during the inspection. Division staff will recalculate reclamation
costs to account for the current site conditions. The reclamation cost update will be sent under separate cover.
No signs of off site damage or erosion were observed during the inspection.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the November 7, 2008 inspection are included at the end of this
report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
e
no. 970-241-2042.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Justin Aubert
OPERATOR: United Companies
STREET: P.O.
