need for a Technical Revision to the permit as a result of the acreage release in order to
clarify the changes that will be made to the final reclamation of the site and how the area
will be mined. So, for the submitted Technical Revision, please submit an additional
narrative describing specific changes that will occur to the mining and reclamation plan.
For example, it appears that a number of the cells, ponds and water storage facilities will
change in size and shape; please outline the various changes that will be made. Please
identify any changes to how the cells will be mined if any, and any changes in the current
approved mine plan and reclamation plan. Also, in regards to the reclamation plan, in the
narrative, please identify any man made structures or roads/trails that will remain on the
site after reclamation is complete that are currently not approved in the reclamation plan.
Overall, the Division needs to know if the change in the permit boundary will impact
slope construction, topsoil placement and revegetation of the site. If reclamation and
mining will remain the same as it currently approved, please indicate this.
The decision date for the Technical Revision is December 26th, 2008. Prior to the
approval of the Technical Revision, the acreage release request must be approved and the
Division will need the information that is discussed above. Given the time it takes to
approve an acreage release, the decision date for the Technical Revision will need to be
extended. Please submit a letter to the Division to extend the decision date for the
Technical Revision, please give a specific date at least 90 to 120 days out to allow
enough time to process the acreage release request. Also as stated above, this
correspondence must be separate from the acreage release request.
If you have any question please call (303)-866-3567 ext. 8120.
Thanks,
Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist, DRMS
Cc: Pam Hora, Tetra Tech
2
