Technical Revision #1 Review
Dear Mr. Spady,
COLORADO
D I V IS I ON OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
On November 28th, 2008 the Division received your Technical Revision regarding the corrective
action for the problem cited in the August 27th, 2008 inspection report regarding the topsoil pile.
The Division has one comment to clarify the Technical Revision.
Within the Technical Revision, you state that "Wheat will be planted on the remaining stockpile it
will be planted by hand and rolled in with a sheep's foot roller to polk holes in the ground and
push seed in and then catch water to help with erosion". The current approved topsoil
stabilization plan requires that the topsoil pile to be seeded with blue grama, sideoats grama, and
little bluestem. Please commit to following the current approved topsoil stabilization plan for the
current topsoil stockpile on the site and any other pile that is imported or created in the future.
Please be advised, that the decision date for the Technical Revision is December 28th, 2008. If
this issue is not resolved prior to that date, the Technical Revision will be denied and will have to
be re-submitted with the proper fee.
Regards,
,Ya'red Ebert,
Environmental Protection Specialist, DRMS
Cc
Tony Waldron, DRMS
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
