BACKGROUND
The Tri County Gravel pit is located approximately 1.5 miles east of Hotchkiss, CO in Delta
County. The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety granted Tri County gravel a 112
construction materials permit in 1977 for the purpose of mining gravel from property owned by
Curry. The initial permit covered an area within the north fork of the Gunnison River. In 2000,
Tri County Gravel gained an amendment to the existing permit which allowed the mining of an
additional 91.3 acres on the Curry property. This total area of 115 acres is the current permitted
area for the Tri County Gravel pit, as of September 2007.
This technical revision to the 112 permit for the Tri County Gravel pit in September 2007, covers
changes to the disturbed area, the mining plan, the reclamation plan, and the reclamation costs
for the worst case scenario.
The permittee for this site is Tri County Gravel.
For the purposes of clarity, the operation is referred to as the Tri County Pit instead of it's name
of Tri County Gravel. This is to avoid confusion with the name of the permittee, Tri County
Gravel.
Tri County Technical Revision Sept 07 1
