Box 772461
Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
RE: Current Network Monitoring Well Abandonment/Transfer Ownership, Edna Mine
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Combs:
Chevron Mining Inc. (Chevron) has contracted WWC Engineering (WWC) to assist in
attaining bond release for the former Edna Mine, Permit Number C-80-001, located in Routt
County, Colorado. The Edna Mine is in permanent cessation, reclamation is nearly complete,
and the site is approaching potential final bond release. Prior to and during mining activities
numerous monitoring wells were drilled within and extending outside of the permit boundary.
The monitoring wells are constructed of PVC casing ranging in diameter from 2"-4" and
depth from tens to hundreds of feet. Most monitoring wells are completed with a 6" stick-up
above ground and a protective housing at the well head, however some wells are flush with
the ground. The construction of the monitoring wells was for observation not production.
The monitoring wells had numerous purposes including attaining water level and/or water
quality data. The referred monitoring well(s) is still in the Edna Mine groundwater
monitoring program. Contemporaneous with submittal of the bond release application this
monitoring well(s) should be either plugged and abandoned in accordance with state
regulations or transferred in ownership rights to the current property owner prior to final bond
release. The following monitoring well(s) is located on your property (Figure 1):
• TR-3
The following materials are provided under this cover letter:
• Figure 1. Location Map;
• Permit A. Permit to Plug and Abandon Monitoring Well(s); and
• Permit B. Permit to Commence Transfer of Ownership of Monitoring Well(s).
WWC is transmitting this informational package requesting either access to your property to
perform the abandonment of the referenced monitoring well(s) or permission to commence
transfer of ownership of the referenced monitoring well(s) to your name. Please complete
either the Permit to Plug and Abandon Monitoring Well(s) (Permit A) or the Permit to
