INTRODUCTION <br />3) Modified Mine Plan for Lease No. D-034365 from the U.S. Geological survey on December 3, <br />1976 permitting a production level of 250,000 tons per year from the "X" coal seam only. <br />4) Conversion of Open Mining Permit No. 76-15 to Development and Extraction Mining Permit No. <br />76-15 C/A from the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board on January 25, 1977 permitting a <br />life-of-mine permit for 250,000 tons per year from the "X" coal seam only. <br />5) Mine Plan Approval for Lease No. D-034365 from the U.S. Geological Survey on August 19, <br />1977 permitting a production level of 3 million tons per year for the life-of-the mine. <br />6) Amendment to Development and Extraction Permit No. 6-15 C/A from the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board on August 25, 1977 permitting an expansion of the mine to an 8 seam, 3 <br />million tons per year production level for the life-of-the mine. <br />7) Approval of production level increase to 4.5 million tons per year from she Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board on July 24, 1980 and from the Office of Surface Mining on August 29, 1980. <br />8) The assignment to Colowyo, a portion of Consolidation Coal Company Lease No. C-29224 on <br />July 14, 1982 allowing Colowyo to mine through Section 11. The assignment, Coal Lease No. C- <br />35874 was also approved by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Geological Survey. <br />9) Issuance to Colowyo, by the Mined Land Reclamation Division, Mining Permit-Coal Permit No. <br />C-81-019 on November 4, 1982. <br />10) Issuance to Colowyo, by USDI, Office of Surface Mining, Permit Number CO-0015 on February <br />22, 1983. <br />11) The assignment to Colowyo, Coal Lease C-29224 from Consolidation Coal Company effective <br />February 1, 1989 with approval by the Bureau of Land Management. <br />12) January 25, 1989, approval by MLRD of a Technical Revision Providing for the Mining of <br />Section 11. <br />13) February 24, 1989, approval by USDI, OSMRE, of Colowyo Mine Mining Plan for Federal Lease <br />No. C-29224. <br />14) June 4, 1992, approval by CDRMS of PR-O1 to add the Section 16 Mining area to the Permit. <br />15) August 3, 1992, approval by OSMRE of the mine plan for Federal Coal Lease 29224 pursuant to <br />PR-01. <br />In addition, an analysis of the Colowyo operation was included in the- Northwest Colorado Coal <br />Environmental Impact Statement, Regional Analysis,- with separate detailed analyses of the Colowyo <br />mine and Colowyo railroad prepared as site specifics. This Environmental Impact Statement was <br />completed in January, 1977. <br />Because the Colowyo mine is an existing operation, additional environmental impacts from mining will <br />be minimal. Support facilities, such as office buildings, railroads, tipples, etc., are already in place and <br />will continue to be utilized as the additional reserves are mined.
