(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1480_-20.5
INSPECTION DATE: > > /1.'?/nR INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: MAC
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and
Bob Oman of Select Materials. The Select Materials pit is located approximately 5 miles east of Fort Lupton,
Colorado off of County Road 12. The permit area encompasses 38.4 acres.
The permit sign and boundary markers were posted in accordance with Rule 3.1.12. No mining activities were
taking place at the time of the inspection. The Operator is excavating sand from a hillside in the southwest
corner of the permit area. Mining is currently progressing to the east. The extent of the disturbed area was
measured using a Geo XT GPS unit. The total disturbed area was found to be 10.07 acres; this included the
stockpile area, maintenance area, and the excavation area. The Division holds a financial warranty in the amount
of $7,500; this amount is adequate to reclaim the disturbed area as per the Reclamation Plan.
The field that lies to the north and east of the active mining area has been planted with perennial rye. The
Operator mows the field to control weeds; no weeds were noted in the field. The inspector did note Russian
thistle along the edge of the disturbed area. The Operator has had difficulty mowing this area, because the sandy
terrain prohibits the mower from operating along the edge of the excavation. The excavation face was stable and
showed no signs of erosion. Mining of the site is progressing according to the Mining Plan.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Bob Oman
OPERATOR: Select Materials
STREET: P-0- Box 980
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Fort I canton C-0 60!91
cc: r CE
F 131-
F FS
r HW
F HMWMD (CH)
F SE
F WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
