New Horizon Mine TR-57
4th Adequacy Review
25-Nov-2008
(2) Specify that the 6.0 threshold would apply solely to Lift B
soils; and provide documentation of NRCS concurrence that they
consider the 6.0 threshold to be appropriate for Prime Farmland
Lift B.
(3) Maintain the proposed 6.0 criteria for "Prime Farmland Lift B
and Single-Lift Soils", but provide the documentation requested in
(2), along with documentation based on evaluation of baseline soils
data demonstrating that the proposed criteria for mixed lift soils is
warranted given the salinity characteristics of the pre-mine soils,
and that the proposed 6.0 threshold level would not result in
diminished productivity potential, compared to baseline
conditions, in the areas subject to mixed lift soil salvage and
replacement.
This concludes the Division's Fourth Adequacy Review for New Horizon Mine (Permit No.
C-1981-008) Technical Revision No. 57 - Soil Resource Information, Soil Handling, and
Prime Farmland.
