Soil Depths, 9/12/98
Since both areas to be surveyed appear to have been disturbed at
one time, probably by a disk, no definable Ao horizon was
observed. However, a distinct A~ horizon was present. The soil
is similar to the alluvial slope deposits found upslope from this
area. Depths observed were:
Average depths, 4 observation holes per depth:
Old alfalfa field below brick house:
Area 1: A~ : 0"-7"
B: 7"-34"
Area 2: A~: 0"-6"
B: 6"-23"
Area across road, adjacent to ravine filled with trash:
Area 1: A~: 0"-6"
B: 6"-19"
Area 2: A~: 0"-6"
B: 6"-20"
• These horizons grade into a C horizon which is mostly loose rock.
Variable depths may be found due to presence of rocky deposits.
•
