• 2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
(1) The areas disturbed by the mine facilities will be returned to a rangeland and
wildlife habitat land use. The loadout will be returned to a cropland and
pastureland land use. This will be accomplished by restoring the area to the
approximate original contour. Surface areas will be covered with topsoil and
seeded with the approved seed mix.
(2)(a) Reclamation work will be initiated when the mine reserves are depleted or
when the applicant deems the mine to no longer be an economically viable
operation. Reclamation of the site will take two construction seasons. The
first phase of reclamation is the removal of buildings and structures from the
site. This phase will occur during year one of the reclamation schedule. The
second phase of reclamation will be recontouring the area to approximate
original contours, placing topsoil on the regraded area and seeding the area
with the approved seed mix. This second phase will take approximately six
months and will occur during year two of the reclamation schedule.
• (2)(b) A detailed estimate of the cost of reclamation of the proposed mine and mine
facilities is presented in Section 3.05 Pertormance Bond Requirements.
(2)(c) The mine facilities area, haul road and utility corridor were designed using
a proximate balanced cut and fill technique. To reclaim the areas to
approximate original contour, the fill placed on the outslopes must be
returned to the cut slopes. The Postminig Topography Map No. 18 is
presented in Volume II along with the Postmining and Premining Cross
Sections Map No. 19.
Large rocks and rock piles will be randomly placed throughout the reclaimed
areas to provide small wildlife habitat.
The Freeman Gulch fan site and light use road were constructed with
available material during 1999 as part of the Freeman Gulch Exploration
Plan, notice of intent number X-98-217-02 issued 9/11/98. To reclaim the
site and road, fill placed on the outslopes mut be returned to the cut slopes.
Since the vent shaft pad is in a rock slide area and potentially unstable slope,
• the pad will be reclaimed to approximate original contour after the shaft is
excavated and lined. The fill will be placed at or above optimum moisture
PR-06 2.05 • 46 - 8/01
/iP~Rev59
i/rs~oa
