-
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: NA-19A9-010
INSPECTION DATE: 11.419.40A INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: MA('
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of DBMS. Also present, was Mike Roberts representing
Pete Lien and Sons, Inc. The inspection was part of the Division's regular monitoring program. The Weaver
Quarry is located 9 miles north of Laporte, Colorado off of County Road 72. The permit area encompasses 77.1
acres.
The permit sign and boundary markers were posted in accordance with Rule 3.1.12. No mining was taking
place at the time of the inspection and there was no mining equipment present at the site. The maximum
allowed acreage for disturbance is 21 acres. The Operator has reclaimed the majority of the site; approximately
2 acres remain disturbed. The disturbance consists of a small excavation, which is approximately 3 cubic yards
in size. In addition, a portion of the access road that lies to the south of the excavation has a lack of vegetative
growth. Reclamation of the site has been carried out in accordance with the Reclamation Plan. The slopes
have been graded to a slope of 2:1. Vegetation is well established throughout the site; the inspector noted
stands of little bluestem, sideoats grama, and blue grama.
According to Mr. Roberts, mining operations ceased in 1995. Mr. Roberts stated that the Operator wishes to
keep the Reclamation Permit active, so as to resume mining operations when market conditions are favorable.
This has been cited as a problem and will require corrective action by the Operator. Rule 1.13.5(1) requires that
the Operator file notice of Temporary Cessation when a mining operation temporarily ceases production for
180 days or more.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Rob Kisner
OPERATOR: Pete Lien and Sons Inc-
STREET: P n Box 19A1
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Fort Collins.
