BLACK & V EATO •
r;
Colorado Department of Health B&V Project 6913.007
Mr. Phil Hegeman 5 April 16, 1990
Since all of the chemical and biological solids will be retained within the
soil matrix for future crop uptake, only the soluble phosphorous is of
concern with respect to potential impact on Dillon Reservoir. However, the
soil appears to have good soluble phosphorous removal characteristics and
the liquid portion of the sludge contains an insignificant amount of
phosphorous. Therefore, no negative impacts are anticipated on either
ground water quality or phosphorous loading to Dillon Reservoir.
SUMMARY
This letter of intent has identified the essential components of the
County's sludge application proposal. This proposal will both provide an
alternate means of disposal for the County and assist Climax in its interim
reclamation efforts.
Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to meeting with you to
iron out the details of the County's proposed program to beneficially reuse
its sludge for interim reclamation of the tailing area.
Very truly yours,
Mark J.
