EXHIBIT I
Soils Information
According to the Soil Survey of Prowers County, Colorado, (United States Department of
Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Web Soil Survey 2.0, National Cooperative
Soil Survey), there are eight major soil types within the project area:
1. Lb - Las loam, clay substratum
2. Lc - Las clay loam
3. Ld - Las clay loam, clay substratum
4. Ln - Lm - Las clay loam, saline
5. Las clay loam, sand substratum
6. RoA - Rocky Ford clay loam, 0 to 1 percent slopes
7. RoB - Rocky Ford clay loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes
8. RpA - Rocky Ford, clay substratum, 0 to 1 percent slopes
The location of these soil types relative to the project area is illustrated on the attached Natural
Resources Conservation Service map and legend. A boring location map and boring logs taken
from a gravel investigation conducted by J.A. Cesare & Associates showing the soil strata on
the project area tract have also been attached. Detailed descriptions of each NRCS soil type are
below.
Map Unit. Lb-Las loam, clay substratum
Component: Las, clay substratum (90%)
The Las, clay substratum component makes up 90 percent of the map unit. Slopes are 0 to 1
percent. This component is on flood plains, terraces. The parent material consists of irrigation
enriched clayey alluvium over calcareous sandy alluvium. Depth to a root restrictive layer is
greater than 60 inches. The natural drainage class is poorly drained. Water movement in the
most restrictive layer is moderately low. Available water to a depth of 60 inches is moderate.
Shrink-swell potential is moderate. This soil is occasionally flooded. It is not ponded. A seasonal
zone of water saturation is at 24 inches during March, April, May, June, July, August,
September, October. Organic matter content in the surface horizon is about 1 percent. This
component is in the R069XY03000 Salt Meadow ecological site. Nonirrigated land capability
classification is 4c. Irrigated land capability classification is 4s. This soil meets hydric criteria.
The calcium carbonate equivalent within 40 inches, typically, does not exceed 10 percent. The
soil has a moderately saline horizon within 30 inches of the soil surface. The soil has a slightly
sodic horizon within 30 inches of the soil surface.
Component: Las Animas (5%)
The Las Animas component makes up 5 percent of the map unit. Slopes are 0 to 1 percent. The
parent material consists of sandy alluvium. Depth to a root restrictive layer is greater than 60
inches. The natural drainage class is well drained. Available water to a depth of 60 inches is
very low. Shrink-swell potential is low. This soil is frequently flooded. It is not ponded. A
seasonal zone of water saturation is at 27 inches during May, June, July. This soil meets hydric
criteria.
GP Ranches, LLC.
?
' JcT Consulting, Inc.
