In addition, they are <br />known to occLU and breed in the project <br />areaonia District. These frogs are typically <br />found in ponds or areas with still water, but <br />occasionally ir.- intermittent streams and <br />springs. There is the potential for northern <br />leopard frogs to exist within. the fringe areas of <br />Deep Creek and Dry Fork Minnesota Creek or <br />in any of the identified marshes and <br />intermittent lakes, stock ponds, springs and <br />seeps in the project area (see Vegetation <br />Section). <br />to utilize the suitable habitat available in the <br />project area as the species has been observed <br />during wildlife surveys in areas adjacent to and <br />representative of the project area (Ward and <br />Monarch 2003; Ward and Monarch 2004; Ward <br />and Monarch 2005). <br />C <br /> <br />Loggerhead Shrike <br />Loggerhead shrike populations have been <br />declining in Colorado due to habitat loss. <br />Loggerhead shrikes tend to prefer areas with a <br />significant presence of shrubs and fortis <br />(Dechant et al. 1998). Approximately 2 percent <br />of the project arE;a is representative loggerhead <br />shrike habitat. Loggerhead shrikes are assumed <br />Northern Goshawk <br />Goshawks are discussed above under <br />Management Indicator Species. <br />Olive-sided. Flycatchers <br />Olive-sided flycatchers have been in decline <br />within certain portions of Colorado. They are <br />seasonal migrants within. Colorado and, <br />although limited, suitable olive-sided flycatcher <br />habitat does occur in the project area and this <br />species 'has been documented within <br />representative areas adjacent to the project area <br />(Ward and Monarch 2003; Ward and Monarch <br />2004; Ward and Monarch 2005).
