NECC, Golden Eagle Mine, bond release (SL-6Zpg. 2
Backfilling and grading, drainage reestablishment, and surface water runoff control has been demonstrated to be
in compliance with the approved DRMS mining permit and DRMS regulations, and approved for release in
previous bond release applications. The final backfilling and grading configurations throughout the affected
areas closely resemble the approximate original contours of the land before mining,. blend well into the adjacent
undisturbed landscapes, and revegetation efforts have been successful. DRMS has routinely inspected the
approximately 633 acres of land overlying the underground workings.
This bond release requests applies to Phase III release for 51.4 acres reclaimed at the former main facility and
portal area; Phase 1, II, and III for the 5.6 acres associated with the reclamation of sediment ponds 3 and 4; and
the 0.1 acre reclaimed adjacent to the former railroad track; and for liability release on approximately 633 acres
overlying the underground workings (excluding the 1.2 acres of workings below the NW-1 ventilation shaft).
OSM finds NECC has met or exceeded the requirements for bond release on the phases and acreages as noted
above; and OSM hereby provides concurrence to release the bond acreages and amounts set forth in the
DRMS Proposed Decision.
DBMS currently holds a reclamation bond in the amount of $141,992.49. Of this total bond amount $69,793.49
will be released on the lands and acreage noted above subject to this release request. DRMS will retain
$72,099.00 of performance bond applicable to the remaining mine reclamation area. DRMS has determined the
bond amount remaining is adequate to ensure completion of the remaining reclamation and environmental
monitoring responsibilities.
Thank you and your staff for coordinating this Federal lands bond release through the DFD.
