Dudash
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine
TR-58 - Pump Water from D-Seam to B-Seam
Permit C-1996-083
Dear Mr. Dudash:
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONST. MANAGEMENT
RECEIVED
Nov 1,, 7 2008
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
On behalf of Bowie Resources LLC, enclosed is an application for a technical revision
to allow water to be pumped from the D-Seam dewatering well to the B-Seam. The D-
Seam dewatering well is located along Hubbard Creek road approximately 1,000 feet
north of the ventilation shaft. The water will be pumped from the D-Seam dewatering
well down the shaft to the active B-Seam workings.
The D-Seam dewatering well was authorized by technical revision number 53. TR-53
also authorized the installation of a pipeline to and into the shaft.
The following text from page 2.05-35i explains the status of the D-Seam dewatering
well.
"During late 2008 a dewatering well will be installed in the D-Seam near the Mouth of
Dove Gulch. A six inch diameter water line will be installed from the dewatering well to and into
the shaft. The 1,000 foot long water line will buried along the inside edge of Hubbard
Creek road. The dewatering well will not be put into service until additional approvals are
obtained from the DRMS."
Thus, approval of this technical revision application will allow the Operator to put
the dewatering well in service. The water will be stored in the B-Seam sumps
until a mine water discharge option is approved by DRMS.
Through TR-54, the Operator has applied for approval to discharge water directly
to the North Fork of the Gunnison River. Through TR-57, the Operator has
applied for approval to discharge water into the old U. S. Steel Mine. Both of
