Additional Sheet
2008 Annual Report
Pueblo East Pit
M-1986-015
Continental Materials Corporation
Anniversary Date: November 12
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2007/2008 operating year mining continued in Phase 1, but that phase
is largely mined out now. In Phase 2 much of the year was spent designing and preparing for installation of the
slurry wall. The slurry wall was begun in mid October and is expected to take about 75 days or so to install.
Preparation for mining the northeast corner outside the slurry wall was also begun.
Annual Report Maps: The annual report map included in this report shows the extent of disturbance on the
site as divided into several categories.
Affected Lands: The approximate acreage in each category is shown on the map. Keep in mind that
boundaries between categories are sometimes vague and therefore the acreages are based on where the
boundaries were placed. There is currently about 218 acres in some state of disturbance. The only significant
land in the permitted plan that has not been disturbed is in the western portion of Phase 2.
Work Anticipated in 2008/2009: As Phase 1 is basically finished with mining, most, if not all mining will shift
to Phase 2 in the next year. Initially, mining will occur in the northeastern corner of the phase, outside the slurry
wall. But once the slurry wall is installed, mining will also occur inside the slurry wall. Initially, mining inside the
slurry wall will probably provide a means to start pumping out the basin so future mining inside the slurry wall
can be done with only a limited amount of maintenance pumping.
Bonding: This operation is covered under a self bonding arrangement.
Continental Materials 2008 Annual Report M-1986-015 Pueblo East Pit Page 1 of 1
