Mr. Barbe provided two cultural resource inventory reports as attachments to that email
documenting the cultural resource inventories that were conducted for the subject project. These
inventories, completed by Alpine Archaeological Consultants are titled as follows:
• A Cultural Resource Inventory of Mountain Coal Company LLC's E Seam MDW Drilling for
Panels 10, 11, 12, E1, E2, and E3 (CHS #50662)
• A Cultural Resource Inventory of Mountain Coal Company LLC's E Seam MDW Drilling for
Panels E4-E9, Gunnison County, Colorado (CHS #53207)
These inventories and their findings had previously been submitted to our office by the Grand Mesa,
Uncompahgre, and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forest. At that time, they were reviewed and a
finding of no historic properties affected was concurred upon by our office. As such, no additional
cultural inventory is necessary.
We apologize that previous correspondence from our office (dated September 9 and October 23,
2008) incorrectly stated that no cultural resource inventory had been conducted for the PR-14 project
area. The difficulty stems from the fact that these reports came to our office under separate cover,
1300 BROADWAY DENVER COLORADO 80203 TEL 303/866-3395 FAx 303/866-2711 www.coloradohistory-oahp.org
