Benefits realized or taken into consideration dining planning and design included: <br />• MCC upgraded the dam ustllg 220-lineal feet concrete pipe fur the primary <br />spillway, installed new valves, and placed a trash rack at the invert ofthe primary <br />spillway. <br />• NICC utilized 44,200 yards' of onsite material for the buttresses. clay liner. and <br />riprap material. MCC also salvaged topsoil volumes of approximately 11.400 <br />vards'. <br />• MCC imported 18.200 yards' of filter material for trench and interceptor drains. <br />• MCC, after investigating the landslide to the south identified by the USFS. <br />N1CRC, and MCC"s Consultant as unstable, unloaded the slide usino the material <br />for the dam buttresses and improved the slope stability by installing trench drains <br />in the borrow area. <br />• MCC worked with the DNVR/OSE, CDRNIS, MCRC and USES on ensuring an <br />acceptable factor of safety for the dam. <br />• MCC ensured the designs from Barr Engineering included rip-rap for the <br />emergency spillway and upstream face of the dam. Prior to this project the darn <br />had neither. <br />• Topsoil, deadfall, slash, and mulch from the clearing and grubbing operations. <br />generated during the project was utilized on the do\\nstrearn danl slope to <br />promote seed orowth and minimize erosion creatino a more natural looking <br />reclamation.
