III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br /> the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br /> facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br /> Mining and Safety. Jim Jarvis represented the operator. With the operator's consent,this report was issued <br /> from the Denver office of DRMS. <br /> The operator's representative reported that the King I Mine was actively mining in Section 6 and the <br /> King II Mine was mining approximately 8,000 feet in from the portals. The weather was clear and the <br /> ground was dry. <br /> Availabilitv of Records <br /> The results of the records check are shown on the attached list. All required records were available. <br /> Signs and Markers <br /> King I -Mine i.d. signs and affected area markers were properly displayed. <br /> King II—A mine i.d. sign was on display at the mine's entrance on County Road 120. The perimeter <br /> of the affected area was marked with"permit boundary" signs and survey stakes. <br /> Roads <br /> Kling I - The mine entrance haul road was well maintained. <br /> King II -The haul/access road was well maintained. <br /> Hydrologic Balance <br /> King I Ponds - The bottom of the east pond drt. The west pond contained a small pool of water. <br /> Sediment has recently been removed from both ponds. The outlet end of the secondary spillway(8" <br /> pipe) of the west pond was uncovered during the inspection(it had been covered with soil). The <br /> operator's representative explained that sediment level markers will be reinstalled as soon as the ponds <br /> are dry enough to access. Embankments, inslopes, and spillways appeared in good condition. <br /> King II Pond—The pond was dry.contained a pool of water approximately 2 feet deep. The pond <br /> embankment, inslopes, and spillway appeared in good condition. <br /> King I Ditches and Culverts - The east upland diversion ditch appeared in good condition and was <br /> clear of debris. Rocks have been removed from the inlet of the culvert in the west upland diversion <br /> that were reported on the June 4 inspection. <br /> King II Ditches and Culverts—DRMS is reviewing the application for Technical Revision 15 which <br /> updates designs of culverts and ditches with as-built designs. Construction in the portal area continues. <br />
