You responded via email the same day noting "[t]hank you for voluntarily agreeing to the
historic recordation requests made by SHPO, I appreciate CC&V's willingness to resolve this
issue prior to the formal Board hearing. I believe your explanation of the mining time frames
provides clarification to SHPO and will resolve any confusion that the letter may have
generated."
To clarify the commitment made by CC&V in my email to you excerpted above, please note that
CC&V will voluntarily complete recordation of the five sites that are on CC&V-privately owned
lands that may be impacted by Amendment No. 9 activities. And, for one of those sites,
specifically Simms Ore Sorting House, CC&V voluntarily agreed to recorded to SHPO's Level
II standards for historic resource documentation. Please note that the initial field work
recordation for the Simms Ore Sorting House has been completed; additional archival research
and a historical narrative will be completed in 2009 to bring the recordation to Level II
standards. CC&V will decide as to the other four structures if they will be recorded to Level I or
Level II standards when appropriate based on when mining-related activities are proposed to
occur.
Please advise if you need any further memorialization by CC&V on this matter.
Sincerely,
/s/ Gary Goodrich
Gary Goodrich
Manager, Environmental Resources
cc: Larry Newcomer
Peter O'Connor
