Doerfer, Reclamation Specialist
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division fY
1313 Sherman Street; Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Climax Mine A endment. File No. M-77-493r .
Dear Mr. rf
Attached are the results of acid production/uptake tests from a sample of
the pit slough material to be used to cover the Robinson dam and pond
areas and a sample of topsoil material from one of the primary stockpiles.
The former sample was requested by the Division during the last site visit
and the latter sample was tested by Climax out of curiosity. The materials
from both samples are net acid consumers. The pit material appears to be a
particularly good cover for the tailing which is a net acid producer.
On another topic, Bob Kilborn and I will be meeting with the U.S. Forest
Service at Climax on September 27, 1989 regarding the issues noted in their
letter to your office dated July 31, 1989. This will be the second meeting
with the USFS on this matter. Following this meeting, I will submit a letter
to your office detailing the resolution of the issues.
Si erely,
effrey W. Todd
cc: Bob Kilborn, Climax Mine
