As we discussed in our meeting of September 24, 2008, the current
Exhibit 66, Mine Water Control Plan, Volumes 8 A and 8 A(2), needed to be updated by MCC's
contractor TetraTech. These revisions were necessary and prudent to update the Division on changes
to the sediment control plan over the last few years. Due to topographical changes onsite from
landslide activity, temporary culverts placed that became permanent, temporary culverts removed, and
still others that need to be placed, it was necessary to conduct a complete audit of all ditches, culverts,
and update the mine water control plan. After the audit was conducted, MCC then completed new
Maps Nos. 54 and 54B, flow diagrams, Sedcad runs, culvert designs, and denoted sub-watershed
basins. None of the approved designs for ponds were changed.
Attached are the revision form, public notice, and new Exhibit 66,Volumes 8A and 8A (2), showing
the ground-truthed locations of all ditches, culverts, sub-watershed basins, and new Maps 54, and 54B.
The information in these volumes should help the Division with the mid-term review and should help
the Division with future inspections.
.0
