Cattany
Division Director
RE: Trapper Mining, Inc., Permit C-81-010 Natural Resource Trustee
Third Quarter 2008 Discharge Monitoring Reports Review
Dear Mr. Roberts,
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS) has reviewed and found the
above referenced report to be in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2). The Third Quarter Discharge
Monitoring Reports were received by the Division on 31 October 2008. The reports cover the time
period from 01 July 2008 through 30 September 2008.
Five NPDES outfalls discharged during the Third Quarter of 2008. Outfalls 001 and 011 discharged
during the first two weeks. Outfalls 002 and 020 discharged routinely throughout the quarter. Outfall
018 discharged in response to dewatering the pond for expansion. Outfalls 011 and 020 were sampled
for WET analyses during the quarter. No exceedances of WET test limitations were observed.
It is noted that primary effluent limitations of TSS were exceeded at outfall 018 on 08 July 2008 due to
the pumping of the pond for expansion. Based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD), the
WQCD will be responsible for enforcing CDPS permit conditions including exceedances of TSS.
Thank you for the timely submittal.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
