III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This former, contour strip operation is bond
revoked. All remaining funds from the bond revocation at this site were spent in 2004 for
ditch repairs. Inspection frequency is quarterly, with one complete inspection each year.
Ground conditions on this day were dry and the weather was clear and mild.
Reveaetation
The reclaimed areas of pond 15-P1 and 15-P10 appeared in excellent condition. It is
apparent that no significant cattle grazing occurred this year as evidenced by the tall, thick
stands of grasses and forbs. Previous grazing, especially during drought years resulted in a
landscape nearly devoid of plant life by this time in the fall. Some scotch thistle rosettes
were noted in various areas, especially along the ditch that bisects the reclaimed area.
Overall, the site appeared in average condition for the fall season.
3
