Riverview Resource is actively managed for noxious weed control with a
combination of chemical and mechanical methods. Site evaluations are
conducted and management plans are developed and implemented annually in
an effort to maintain control of and/or eradicate noxious weeds, including
Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Field Bindweed, Salt Cedar, Russian Olive and
Leafy Spruge. Efforts are also being focused on Kochia and Cheatgrass prior to
re-vegetation of reclaimed areas. Additionally, Al initiated weed management
efforts in the riparian corridor within the existing permit boundary approximately 6
years prior to commencement of mining in 2003 with an emphasis on Leafy
Spurge control. A revegetation plan to re-establish native grasses and enhance
the riparian zone has also been initiated and includes aggressive control of
Kochia, cheatgrass and other weeds, followed by grass drill seeding if necessary,
to enhance re-establishment of native grasses.
Riverview Resource
Amendment to Permit M1999098 112c
Page H2 of H2
