Derr;
We have recently received your authorization request letter through J& T Consulting, Inc.
Based on previous conversations with both Doug and Darwin concerning their mining operation, we
would be glad to sign our authorization. However, as our experience has shown with previous
mining operations in the area, it is best to get as much as possible in writing early on.
My 87 year old Mother lives in her own apartment on our property, and breathing clean air
is an issue for her and for all of us. What is your intention so far as dust abatement is concerned,
both during the mining as well as dust created by transport along the road? What safeguards will
be in place regarding noise levels during your operation? We have had conversations about
upkeep of the Balsam Ave roadway-perhaps those conditions might be put into writing? Will the
noise, dust and danger be limited to five days a week?
Short of flagging someone down on our road, we have no telephone numbers to reach any
responsible party regarding our concerns.
My wife, Diana; my mother, Alice Rand, and I are most appreciative of your attention to*
these matters. We are really not trying to make your life more difficult or expensive; we are only
trying to keep from being run over by the gravel mining operations in the area. When we moved
here in 1976, Balsam Ave. was the quietest, most pristine country road imaginable-it has been
most difficult to adjust to being the neighbor of a gravel factory and to deal with the constant noise,
dust and danger posed by these huge trucks whizzing by for as much as fourteen hours a day,
sometimes six days a week.
'Again, if these issues could be addressed, we would be glad (though a little reluctant) to
sign the authorization.
Thank you,
Jim r
d/b/a Taylor Construction
(970) 366-2869
665 Balsam Ave.
Greeley, CO 80631
cc: State of Colorado, Dept. of Mining and Geology, Attn: Eric Scott, 1313 Sherman St., Rm 215,
Denver, Colorado 80203
cc: Todd Taylor, Attorney at Law 710 11t" Ave., Suite 300, Greeley, CO 80631
