Mines. Noxious weed control was completed using pesticide for halogen and knapweed. A
Pesticide Use Proposal was prepared for the Sunday Mines and has been submitted to the BLM;
however, approval from the state office has not been received as of the date of this report. Weed
Management in conjunction with San Miguel County will continue upon BLM approval. Weed
management conducted in the spring of 2008 is currently being mapped and will be provided to
the Division in early November.
No changes occurred in the Permit M-1977-416 area during the past year. A drainage evaluation
was completed for the Sunday Mines to ensure that drainage controls will maintain surface water
runoff protection from a 100-year 24-hour storm. All surface runoff features at the Carnation
were shown to be sufficient; however, routine maintenance was completed on the erosion control
structures in August of this year. This routine maintenance will be documented and reported to
the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in the annual reporting required by
the Colorado Discharge Permit held by Denison and will be provided in the Environmental
Protection Plan to the Division in March 2008.
The site map on file with the Division is current, so no new map is included with this annual
report. No new disturbances within the permit area are presently anticipated during the coming
year.
