ITEM 5A: The fifty two (52) exploration drill holes will be drilled with a truck
mounted drilling rig (comparable in size to a Gardner Denver 1000 or 1500). All drilling
will be done with air/mist/foam and the rig will have a mud pump to facilitate mixing and
pumping mud for hole plugging and abandonment. Cuttings will be used in plugging the
holes and will be collected and described (lithology) for five-foot intervals.
Drilling will commence with a 5-1/8" or 5-1/4" diameter pilot hole through the coal to
approximately twenty feet below the coal seam. Immediately after the holes are drilled, a
bentonite slurry (drilling mud: 50 second Marsh funnel viscosity) will be pumped into the
hole for purposes of conditioning and stabilizing the hole. The rig will then move off the
hole. Each hole will then be logged with geophysical tools (natural gamma ray, gamma-
gamma density, resistivity, and caliper). Soon after the drilling has been completed, about
one out of every five holes will be "twinned" and core drilled through the coal.
No topsoil leveling or removal will be necessary at drilling locations or for drilling rig
access. Access will be by highway or overland travel designed to minimize surface
disturbance.
All drill holes will be plugged and sealed immediately after completion of drilling and
logging. Cuttings from drilling will be placed in drill holes excess cuttings will be
disposed of or removed. All drilling sites will be cleared of any trash or debris and left in
neat and orderly fashion.
ITEM 5.B.1: None
ITEM 5.B.2: None
ITEM 5.B.3: For non-irrigated areas, a dry-land pasture mix will be used consisting of the
following species and distributions:
Slender wheatgrass at 8 PLS/acre
Desert wheatgrass at 4 PLS/acre
Western wheatgrass at 8 PLS/acre
Orchardgrass at 1.5 PLS/acre
Canada bluegrass at l PLS/acre
Irrigated areas will be seeded with an irrigated pasture mix consisting of the following species
and distributions
Meadow brome at 6 PLS/acre
Orchardgrass at 2 PLS/acre
Alfalfa at 2 PLS/ acre
All sites will be seeded via hand broadcasting.
ITEM 5.B.4: See Attached Table 1
