Mr. Mark Vanoni
Senior Environmental Coordinator
Phase IVB1C Berm Raise
Project 84201125DO
October 30, 2008
aneO
The berm raise should be constructed following the Technical Specifications approved under Amendment
No. 8 (Permit M-80-244), attached to this letter. These Specifications provide details on the material
grading, Construction Quality Assurance, minimum geosynthetic test frequency, and documentation. For
this project, the following substitutions to the Amendment No. 8 Technical Specifications are acceptable:
1. If needed, 60-mil smooth or single-sided textured LLDPE may be substituted for 80-mil
LLDPE. This is an acceptable substitution since the berm raise is not used for ore or solution
storage.
2. The geomembrane flap over the berm raise does not need to be covered with DCF, as stated
in the Specifications. The desire is to create a hydraulic break between the VLF and the
perimeter berm. This can only be accomplished by leaving the geomembrane liner flap
uncovered.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (303) 433-0262.
Sincerely,
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.
n F.
