Game Birds
Mourning Dove, Blue Grouse, and Band-tailed Pigeons
Water Foul and Other Birds
Mallards, Common goldeneye, Robin, Dark-eyed Junco, glue Gray Gnatcatcher, Yellow
Warbler, Green-tailed Towhee, and Rufous-sided Towhee
Amphibians and Reptiles
Gopher Snake, Wandering Garter Snake and Chorus Frog
Endangered or Threatened Species
Periodic review of T & E, Endangered Species and candidate species and their Delta County
habitats is required. The RN-5 review conducted in 2008 performed such a review with the
findings noted below. RN-5 reviewed these species in light of a routine Permit renewal
containing no plans to expand or modify the limited TCC facilities (13 acres) located on
former agricultural/orchard lands.
Bald eagles and golden eagles may utilize some of the surrounding areas in the North Fork
of the Gunnison River for occasional seasonal foraging, but there will be no impact with
respect to these species as a result of the coal handling facilities at TCC.
Canada Lynx -There is no suitable habitat for the Canada Lynx located at or near TCC and
no effect on the species.
Black footed ferret are associated with prairie dog colonies. No such suitable habitat or
species occurrence is known to exist in the vicinity of the TCC facility.
Yellow Billed Cuckoo -Populations of this species are known to occur only in the
southwestern U.S. and none located near the TCC facility.
Colorado pikeminnow, humpback chub, bonytail chub and razorback sucker are known
to exist in offsite areas in the lower 30-40 miles of the Gunnison river and Colorado river
near Palisade, Colorado. No populations are known to appear near TCC.
Clay-loving wild buckwheat is known to occur on alkaline clay soils and sparsely vegetated
badlands such as Mancos Shale. The only known populations are restricted to the adobe hills
area located between Montrose and Delta. The TCC operation will have no effect on this
species.
Uinta Basin hookless cactus is known to exist on exposed, gravel-covered, clay hills,
saltbush or sagebrush flats located between Grand Junction and Montrose. The TCC
operation will have no effect on this species.
Based on current information for these eleven species, the continued existence and operation
of the TCC facility will not adversely effect or contribute to a loss of viability of any of these
T & E or candidate species or their habitats.
RN-OS 2.04 -17 Rev. 5/OS
/~PPRov~~
5~z3 /U$
