III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Eastside Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No company
representative was present during the inspection. The Eastside Mine is in reclamation only status.
The inspection involved viewing one aerial photograph taken by Harry Ranney of DMG on May 9,
1997.
Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond appeared to be dry and embankments were well vegetated.
No major erosion features were noted on the reclaimed slopes. The permanent and temporary
drainage channels appear to be in good repair.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled and graded area showed no signs of instability or erosion. The
portal areas appeared stable.
Reve etation Vegetation was noted on the backfilled and graded slopes. Some bare spots were
noted on the northern end of the reclamation just east and west of the permanent diversion channel.
This is the second growing season for vegetation at the Eastside Mine.
