III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Eastside Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No company
representative was present during the inspection. The Eastside Mine is in reclamation only status.
The inspection involved viewing three aerial photographs taken by Harry Ranney of DMG on June 10,
1997.
Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond was dry and embankments were well vegetated. The
temporary drainage channel appeared to be in good repair. The permanent channel was well
vegetated and did not show any signs of erosion. No major erosion features were noted on the
reclaimed slopes.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled and graded area showed no signs of instability. The portal and
fan area appeared stable.
Revegetation Vegetation on the mine site looked relatively good for the second growing season.
INumerous shrubs could be depicted around the poi id and lower portions of the undisturbed mine site.
