One other change in the interest of public safety and no trespassing is described below.
There is a good fence with a gate running along the east side of Phases 7 & 8. The gate
has been a constant problem, frequently opened by trespassers or cut and left open. BLM
may suggest this gate be replaced by fence. United is concerned someone will enter the
property from this location on motorcycle, four wheeler, etc. (vehicle of some sort -
maybe horseback), and be injured on the property. United has also had vandalism
problems with front end loader cab glass being broken out. United proposes to put a 8 to
10 ft. high safety berm of overburden along this stretch of fence (on the pit side of the
fence) to slowdown, if not stop, access to the pit. This material would also serve as the
safety berm on Phases 7 & 8. BLM may not go for this berm.
. United Companies hasen't produced any material at the BLM location for quite some
time due to the demand for materials at other locations and due to the number of crushers
to satisfy the demand. By opening up a slightly larger mining area, more material can be
produced during by a single crusher move in, thereby providing more material for sale
and more royalty potential for the BLM. United has plans to begin stripping Phase 4
probably next week. United will continue using the current approved plan for this
upcoming mining event as more room on BLM is needed before crushing, processing,
and stockpiling can all take place on BLM.
United would appreciate your early consideration and approval of out request. I've
sketched the changes on the enclosed map of the area and am available to answer any
questions you may have. The local BLM office (Steve Gerwe) is reviewing this request
for mining change as well. A check for $216.00 is enclosed. Thank you
Sincerely,
z4vo /4v-,/
Brent Kerr
United Companies
e-e A
72-
