EXI IIBIT A - Legal Description
The pit area is approximately 9.9 acres in the E % of the NW 1/4 of Section 23,
T9N, R47W of the 6th P.M., Phillips County, Colorado. Delineator boundary posts will
be set to mark the pit areas as shown on the map.
EXHIBIT B - Site Description
a) Vegetation -
The site is currently in the Conservation Reserve Program. The owner is
withdrawing the pit area from CRP. Grasses have been established as part
of the CRP program.
Soil Information -
The Natural Resource Conservation Service soil maps show the soil as
being Rago and Kuma loam s. Most of these soils are cultivated. In some
areas, gravelly material is set about 24" below the surface. Another pit in
the immediate vicinity has proven that usable gravel is available below the
overburdern. There is a topsoil depth of 6" over the pit area.
b) Permanent man-made structures
There are no permanent man-made structures within 200 feet of the affected
area.
c) Water resources
The excavation will not occur within a drainage area. Aside from runoff
during rainfall, the excavation should not encounter any water during mining.
Rainfall in the area averages about 17.8 inches per year. The site will
generally not be impacted by water. The water table in the area is
substantially below the surface, in most cases at least 150 feet deep.
d) Wildlife
No significant amount of wildlife has been encountered during any of the
visits to the site. Normal species appearing at the site could be coyotes,
rabbits, skunks, badgers, and pheasants. There are no known threatened or
endangered species.
