This substitute water supply plan replaces depletions from
mining at the Timnath Connell Pit. The required fee of $257 has been submitted for the Timnath
Connell Pit. On August 11, 2006, the State Engineer approved the clay liner for the Stute Pit,
which eliminated the need to replace new depletions from the evaporation of exposed ground
water. Because the Stute Pit has been lined, is no longer operating, and no longer exposes
ground water to the atmosphere, you did not request a separate substitute water supply plan for
the Stute Pit. However, since depletions from the evaporation of ground water from the Stute Pit
(evaporation of exposed ground water before the pit was lined) are lagged to the stream, the
Applicant is required to continue to replace these lagged depletions. A schedule of the lagged
depletions from the Stute Pit is identified in the attached Table 1. Approximately 95 percent of the
lagged stream depletions from the Stute Pit have already been replaced and only the last 5
percent of lagged stream depletions remain to be replaced.
TABLE A - MINING SITES
Well Exposed
Site Name DMG # Previous Permit Ground Water
Approval No. Surface acres
Stute Pit M-81-007 10/26/2005 61223-F The pit has been
lined
Timnath-Connell Pit M-99-050 10/26/2005 53419-F 8.0
Office of the State Engineer -9-
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 - Denver, CO 80203 - Phone: 303-866-3581 - Fax: 303-866-3589
www.water.state.co.us
