The results of the dike analysis using the reduced material values was:
Tri County Worst Case
GRID SEARCH ANALYSIS
Approximately 50 slices selected
Xmin= -30.0 Xmax= 90.0 Increment= 5.0
Ymin= 100.0 Ymax= 170.0 Increment= 5.0
Rmin= 0.0 Rmax= 60.0 Increment= 4.0
Minimum FS found during grid pattern = 1.75
Found at X= 5.0, Y= 100.0, R= 12.0
The failure circle generated by using the weakened material data is the same as the circle
generated by the real world conditions. The worse case condition has a factor of safety of 1.75,
indicating a safe slope even with the lower density and reduced internal angle of friction. For this
reason, the existing embankment is stable.
I certify, as a professional engineer registered in the State of Colorado with 23 years of
experience, that this slope is stable with the materials and slope angles selected.
°
°
Greg Lewicki, P.E.
Date
Tri County Dike Slope Stability Jan 08 7
