SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS
The analysis of the dike slope was performed according to Bishop's method of slices with the
program SB-Slope, an MS-DOS based program. SB-Slope performs Bishop's method of slices
on a failure circle selection grid, and each failure circle was analyzed with 50 slices.
The failure circles were determined by analyzing numerous circles over a grid from (-30 ft, 100
ft) to (90 ft, 170 ft) as seen in Figure 2. A center for a failure circle was analyzed at a 5 ft
interval on the grid. Radii was allowed to vary from 0 ft up to 60 ft at a 4.0 ft increment.
(-30,170)
Bishop's method:
Failure circle
Selection grid
(-30,100)
(90,170)
(90,170)
Figure 2 - Selection Grid
The results of the Bishop's method of slices are included as Appendix B.
Tri County Dike Slope Stability Jan 08
5
