(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2002-1 11
INSPECTION DATE: 8/27/2008 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted at the request of the operator regarding the submittal of a Technical Revision to
incorporate a pre-phase to the mine plan to allow for a minimal bond amount to be held by the Division. The
Gilsonite Pit is located west of Fruita, Colorado off of Highway 6 and 50. The site is a I I2c operation with 69.3
permitted acres. Gayle Lyman, a representative of Elam Construction, Inc. was present during the inspection.
The mine identification sign was in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12. The sign is located on the fence at the
main entrance to the gravel mine off of Highway 6 and 50. Permit boundary markers in the form of fences
surrounding the perimeter of the mine were in place during the inspection.
No disturbance has occurred at the mine since the permit issuance. The site was observed to have significant
disturbance that occurred prior to it becoming a permitted site.
Some tamarisk was observed at various locations within the permit boundary. The infestation was light and is not
seen as a problem due to an active weed management plan. The majority of the site is bare or covered with kochia
and Russian thistle.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the August 27, 2008 inspection are included at the end of this
report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-241-2042.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: Gayle Lerman ?
