Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
Attached is a copy of the pertinent sections of the revision submittal. The revision was called complete
on October 6, 2008. The decision due date is December 5, 2008.
In Technical Revision No. 56, Bowie Resources LLC is proposing to steepen the outslopes of the 50 foot
high benches that are above the first bench at coal waste bank pile No. 2. The bench outslopes would be
steepened from the currently approved slope of 5 horizontal to 1 vertical to a steeper slope of 3 horizontal
to 1 vertical. By steepening the bench outslopes, the operator would be able to place more coal waste at
this site.
This revision is available for review at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, CO 81428.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
1J
osep J. dash
Environmental Protection Specialist
JJD/Ahd
M:\OSS\ahd\temp\C-CI-01_C1996083_ JJD_ 10032008033544.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
