TRAPP68 MININD INCE
September 30, 2008 RECEIVED
Mr. Jason Musick
Environmental Protection Specialist OCT 0 3 2008
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology Division of Reclamation,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Mining and Safety
Denver, CO 80203 .
Dear Mr. Musick:
Re: Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report - September 2008.
Trapper is monitoring assorted benchmarks, inclinometers and piezometers that have
been installed to evaluate the landslide area. In accordance with the reporting
requirements approved in TR-99, Trapper is submitting a monitoring report that shows
results to date.
Attached you will find three categories of data. The first category shows (graphically)
deflection readings in the three inclinometers (07-GI2, 07-GX6 and 07-ZI1). Multiple
readings for each inclinometer are shown with corresponding dates listed on the right
hand side of each graph. The last reading on 07-ZIl was taken on March 26 h after which
this site was removed due to mining advance. There has been no significant movement in
any of the inclinometers.
The second category shows piezometer data. Data for all three remaining piezometers are
shown on one attached sheet.
The third category shows movement data for assorted benchmarks, posts and reflectors.
With the exception of the benchmark located at 07-GX2-CCR and the three posts on the
south/southwest perimeter of the rubblized zone, movement has not been significant. The
benchmark at 07-GX2-CCR is located just outside the east slide perimeter. This
monument has moved over 16 feet at a fairly consistent rate over the last 18 months. AAI
is not overly concerned or surprised by this movement given the location of this site.
Based on continued review of the data, Dr. Samrat Mohanty of Agapito Associates, Inc.
(AAI) has recommended that the monitoring frequency be reduced. A related email
correspondence from AAI is enclosed.
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (970) 824-4401
