III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This site is active but activities are exclusive to
ash disposal and reclamation. Ash is generated at the Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado
and hauled to the mine site for disposal. Ground conditions on this day were dry and the
weather was warm and sunny. Donald MacDonald and Danny Kipp represented the
operator during the inspection.
Hydrologic Balance
Sediment pond 2 held a moderate amount of water due to abundant late summer rains. This
pond is no longer permitted for discharge through the Water Quality Control Division. Should
the pond fill near the point where discharge might occur, the operator would pump the water
back to a holding pond area immediately west of the shop building.
Backfilling and Grading
4
ryy YV
'1+-. _. . ....
